The pretty village of Loutro can be reached from Chora Sfakion along a coastal path or by boat, but there is no road going there, so it is free from the sound of cars. It is situated on a large deep bay and has many restaurants and rooms to rent.
The small settlements of Finikas and Lykos are on the western side of the Loutro headland. Both offer rooms, food, small beaches, and tranquility. High above them is the village of Livaniana.

loutro

Marmara beach is a welcome place to stop after walking down the Aradena gorge or along the coastal path from Agia Roumeli or Loutro. There are smooth marble-like rock formations to lay on and sea caves to explore, and a good taverna above the beach.

marmara

You can visit the small Byzantine church at Agios Pavlos, which is beautifully situated on the beach between Marmaraand Agia Roumeli. A small taverna nearby is open most of the season. This is and alternative pick-up or drop-off point for people hiking down from mountain village of Agios Ioannis or along the coastal path.

samaria

Agia Roumeli village lies at the bottom of the famous Samaria gorge. It has a variety of rooms to rent, a large beach, and many restaurants and small shops.

Domata beach is located around the headland to the west of Roumeli. It is very secluded long beach and is best reached by boat, as the footpath is difficult. There is some shade from rocks by the cliffs, but it is wise to bring a sun umbrella.
